I remember seeing this strip as a kid, and not getting it. I had to look up who Handel was, and only then did it sorta made sense. Yet another strip that assumes a fair amount of classical music literacy on the part of the reader...
@njguy54: True, but I like that he didn't let a reader's possible lack of knowledge scare him off. I learned far more about classical music and composers from reading Peanuts and watching Looney Tunes when I was a kid than I ever learned from any "arts appreciation" class at school, and that was because they made it fun - and funny.
I don't think anyone else would have put that particular punchline or phrased it in quite that manner. That's what really makes the strip for me.
