I still exist....
Hey everyone! I'm sorry I haven't updated this lately, to be honest I'm not quite sure what direction I should take this blog. I don't think the one-post-a-day thing works out so well, and covering every strip produced a lot of repeating myself. Any suggestions for a productive way for me to continue this that will be less onerous/more interesting to read?

ReplyDeleteAnalyzing a comic strip as it evolves, paying attention to trends and watching elements develop over time...it's very entertaining, and you're a very good guide.
ReplyDeleteSo while Peanuts was a great choice to start with, why not pick another beloved, long running comic strip? There are plenty of fish in the sea, and I've been hungry for a while now.
Well, the thing is there aren't very many really good comic strips worthy of the treatment that are also available free online and that I know a lot about. And I don't want to abandon Peanuts anyway, there's a lot still to be said there I think, it's just the week-a-day format isn't moving fast enough, and requires a lot of effort to get out. I'll probably move to a format that gets to the good stuff faster. (Which I had been saying for awhile actually. I've long known this was needed, I just need to make it more "official," I think.)

DeleteBaby Blues.
DeleteCan you do week-by-week? I would love to go through the whole strip with you!
ReplyDeleteAm considering that. On Baby Blues, I dunno, I'm not sure that strip can sustain this kind of examination. Krazy Kat probably could, but I'm not as "into" that, I've been reading Peanuts compilations since first grade, while I don't know nearly as much about Kat. Maybe Bloom County could. But I'll probably just stick with Peanuts.
ReplyDeleteStick with Peanuts, maybe pick a few strips from each month of a year, browse through and see which you want to say something about, but keep the chronology to track the strip's development. That way it's a much less daunting task and you may find time to finish it eventually.
