Sunday, November 9, 1952: Not mad anymore

Peanuts

This joke has been made before, and I don't think it's the last time it will be made. Patty and Violet's antipathy towards Charlie Brown are built off of moments like this one, but again, it doesn't last for the length of the strip.

  1. I've noticed that as the strip progresses, the characters play with toys less and less, save for kites and sports equipment. I guess it's all part of the characters becoming less like typical children, just as Snoopy gradually becomes less dog-like. In fact, it's Snoopy who develops the vivid, child-like imagination, while the others seek psychiatric help, play Beethoven and quote the New Testament.

  2. This is the first strip you've posted where Schulz refers to comic BOOKS rather than comic MAGAZINES.

  3. Is true! About the comic "books." It's like we're in some magical future world now.
