April 3, 1953: Kid spite

Peanuts

So they asked Charlie Brown for his opinion specifically to go against it? That's not very friendly. The wide smile on Schroeder's face doesn't seem to bear much malice; they don't appear to be intending to pass judgement on Charlie Brown with their action. It's just the way they decided to pick a color.

After a few strips that appeared to fairly solidly clinch Snoopy's owner as Charlie Brown, this one throws the question back up in the air a bit. Why would they be painting Snoopy's house if he were exclusively CB's? Wouldn't they grant his opinion a bit more weight in that situation?

Chagrimace!

March 17, 1952: Lucy Lucy Quite Contrary

Peanuts

This is Lucy's fifth strip, and the earliest that tends to show up in abridged anthologies seeing as how it's the earliest glimmer of her fully-developed, ultra-antagonistic personality, and how it still has her saucer-eyes.

Those are some big thought balloons.

January 11, 1952: Thanks for the SLACKS, girls

Peanuts

Although this one is funny (and reminds me of a certain young movie-watching inventor/janitor trapped in space giving one of his robot creations pants as a gift), I mostly linked to it because it's oddly broken and faded. Some of these strips are hard to find, I suppose. Still, it was published in newspapers... I'd think Universal Features would be able to get an undamaged complete copy off a microfilm in a library somewhere.
