October 25, 1951: How do you pronounce that?

Peanuts

♥?

The heart-in-a-balloon is kind of a manga-ish touch, but it does read fairly well. No, this doesn't count as Snoopy speaking, or even thinking, although it's a step in that direction.

  1. The heart-in-the-balloon doesn't bother me, but Snoopy laughing in the last panel really bugs the heck out of me! Like that earlier strip where he sniffles tears of joy (!!!!) at receiving a birthday cake, it's just a totally undoglike attitude for him to display. The typewriter perched on top of his doghouse, or the adventures of a World War I flying ace, never bothered me as much as these two strips do.

  2. Frank T.: This doesn't prove Chuck owns Snoopy, they could just be presenting as colleagues.

RAB: Could it be more that these are un-Snoopy-like displays of emotion?
