More playing Space Hero with the boys. I mentioned Lucy's late-era change of outfit yesterday. Her updated attire actually doesn't look that different from her sleepers here.
Schroeder actually looks pretty cool in the first panel. Are those 3D glasses? How about Charlie Brown's TV-antenna beanie?

They probably are supposed to be 3-D glasses, since the craze was taking off at that time.
ReplyDeleteI remember this one from a paperback reprint, and it's always been a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that in what's usually cariacatured as a more sexist time, Schulz had no problem with Lucy playing space explorer -- as commander of the boys, no less -- but nearly fifty years later, we get yahoos claiming girls aren't interested in space adventure or laser guns.
I want one of those antenna beanies. Might help with my cell phone reception...
