This is more of a general comic strip joke than a specifically Peanuts joke. A kid does something based on ignorance that turns out badly for him. I could imagine Sluggo making this mistake. (Not that there's anything wrong with Sluggo!)

  1. I wonder if contour sheets were relatively new at the time. If so, this strip would be part of a respectable number of gags based on the characters' confused encounters with novel items.

  2. New or old, those suckers haven't gotten any easier to fold in fifty-plus years.

    (I love this strip. Contour sheets are the source of endless despair for my inner Adrian Monk.)
