October 24,1953: Dottie

Peanuts

"Dottie" could be taken for either "daddy" or "doggie," right? I don't get the cookie angle, though.

  1. Little kids often use words that don't sound anything like the actual word they mean. When my brother was a toddler, he called milk "gockie." Nobody knows why, that's just how it was for awhile. Toddler speech is mysterious, which is the point of the strip.

  2. Because coockies have chocolate chips which look like little dots.
